1 September 2019
Hello! On behalf of the entire PTSA Executive Board, we would like to wish you and your children the best as we begin this school year together. Whether you are new to the building, or have sent many students through the front doors on Mud Road, I believe you are in for a year of exceptional growth, camaraderie and success at P.J. Gelinas Junior High School!
The PTSA is here to serve the needs of our students, staff and families both within our walls and on the statewide and national levels through our parent organization. We hope you will join us at our monthly meetings, which alternate between mornings and evenings. You will hear about upcoming events, presentations and activities for the children. You’ll also have an opportunity to speak directly with the Principals and members of the Board of Education, and become an active advocate for your child. This year’s Tuesday meetings will be as follows:
9/17 at 9:30am including the 7th Grade Parent Breakfast
10/22 at 7pm
11/19 at 9:30am
1/21 at 7pm
2/25 at 7pm
3/17 at 9:30am
4/21 at 7pm
5/12 at 9:30am including the TVCSD budget presentation
At the secondary level, fundraising for the PTSA is done primarily through membership. Our goal is 100% membership from both Families and Staff. We hope you will join us by filling out the form under the Membership Tab on the PTSA website or at https://gelinasptsa.com/membership and sending it along with a $20 check made out to “PJ Gelinas JHS PTSA.” You can send it in by backpack to the Main Office or by mail to Gelinas PTSA, 25 Mud Road, Setauket, NY 11733.
By joining, you will be added to the email distribution list so we can keep you up to date on what’s happening at school even when you miss a meeting. You will also be invited to join our Facebook page. Additionally, as a member, you will have the opportunity to volunteer at events like Rec Night and at the School Store.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us with questions or concerns. We wish you and your family good health and happiness this year and always.
With Warm Regards,
Sue Rosenzweig, 516-429-0620

The district-operated Food Pantry is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 2:00pm and is located at the North Country Administrative Center, 100 Suffolk Avenue, Stony Brook. The marked entrance is on the north side, or your right if you are facing the building.
Community members who are experiencing food shortages are encouraged to come visit. Out of respect for your privacy and the health of all involved, the pantry is run by appointment only. Please call 631-730-4010 to schedule a time.
Anyone able to make a donation of any non-perishable items, or grocery gift cards may drop them off during the above times. Please place your bags next to the door, knock and then return to your car. A member of the staff will bring your donations inside.
Please help our school district to help our neighbors. A consolidated Food Pantry for Three Village families in need has been set up at the North Country Administration Building. Please note the specifics below....
WHAT: Drop off of non-perishable food items and paper goods, as well as grocery store and gasoline gift cards.
WHEN: Monday- Friday 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
WHERE: 3VCSD North Country Administration Building, 100 Suffolk Avenue, Stony Brook, NY 11790
If you are facing the building, enter through the driveway on the right side of the building and pull into the parking lot on that side (not the back, not the front.) You will see a door labeled "Food Pantry." Please put your items to the side of that door and then knock. To maintain social distancing, a staff member will come out to get your items once you return to your car.
Please submit all PVSA logs and supporting documents to firstname.lastname@example.org as a PDF by Friday, April 3. Emails from supervising adults in lieu of signed logs will be accepted, include these e-mails as PDF as well.
